plentyLast weeks post in my Thursday Entrepreneurial Family series, Entrepreneur Challenge, sparked off some interesting results. I asked people (including children) to carry some money around with them all week. $20 or £10 for adults, less for kids. I have been getting some people to actually do the exercises in the series to track the results we get. My business partner’s 11 year old niece, S (don’t yet have her permission to use her name) said she would like to be included but she didn’t have a £5 note to carry around with her all week.

So she set her mind to solving this problem. She came up with two solutions…

The first was to use a pretend £5. Since she didn’t need to spend it this week she thought that would work and she could draw it. The other idea she had showed a step forward in her thinking – she realised she could sell her time for chores (her words). What I particularly enjoyed about this was the concept of selling her time. She realised that her time is a commodity. This wasn’t what she wanted to do though, it was simply a way to begin her exercise. I was so impressed, I told her i needed to track some results, so if she would write down her thoughts each day for me and track what she did, I would pay her the £5 she needed. I’m really looking forward to her results! I’ll be posting them on Thursday along with some others, before the next exercise.
